Elena Dementieva retires from the professional tennis circuit after 11 years at the highest level, being one of the most resistent and consistent players the circuit has ever seen, wich allowed her to win 576 of her 849 matches and 16 WTA titles.
Dear Elena, it was a pleasure to watch you conquer your sucesses with that jaw-dropping resiliance and expressive disposition of yours. Too bad you've never been at Estoril Open, but that's ok, I guess you were busy traveling/conquering the world.
I wish you the best retirement possible - send my biggest compliments of admiration to Martina. Hingis. I guess we'll be seeing you around, as a veteran or as a journalist - good luck on that too.
